Dive to the depths of the big blue world aboard Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland Park!

Go explore the big blue world of Nemo and his friends aboard a bright yellow submarine at Disneyland Park. Descend into a colorful underwater capsule and set off on a research expedition operated by the Nautical Exploration and Marine Observation Institute (N.E.M.O.). Through your porthole, you will study a newly discovered volcano, glimpse scuba divers as they investigate colorful reefs and long-forgotten shipwrecks.
As you venture along, you’ll encounter familiar characters from Disney⋅Pixar’s FINDING NEMO. The little orange clownfish and his turtle pal Squirt come into view, along with Nemo’s dad Marlin and their forgetful friend Dory. With the help of special sonar hydrophones, you can hear–and understand–what the pals are saying! Together you’ll journey through scenes from the hit movie, “surfing” the EAC (East Australian Current), helping Bruce the shark remember that “fish are friends, not food,” and bopping through a field of jellyfish.

While the submarines run along tracks and do not fully submerge under the water, some Guests may not feel comfortable in the enclosed ride vehicle. They, as well as Guests who are unable to descend the steps into the vehicles, can still experience the thrill of the undersea adventure at the Observation Outpost at the end of the dock. The facility is manned by a member of the N.E.M.O. Institute and offers a high-definition, live-feed of the Voyage’s “subcam.”
TODAY’S TAKEAWAY:
The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage opened in 2007, replacing–or rather updating–the original Submarine Voyage, which ran from 1959 to 1998. The Submarine Voyage was one of the first “E” Ticket attractions at Disneyland, and it was loosely inspired by the 1958 voyage to the North Pole by the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus. That particular watercraft was named after a fictional submarine in the Jules Verne 19th century classic work of literature, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
