We recently had the pleasure–and I truly mean pleasure–of hosting a Disney Side @ Home Celebration!
In 2014 Disney launched a new publicity slogan to “Show Your Disney Side.” They kicked off the year by inviting a number of bloggers and Disney fanatics to host parties in their homes, utilizing boxes of goodies Disney and their partners provided. Since we had recently relocated, it was the perfect way for our family to get to know new people and make new friends who share our Disney passion. After last year’s experience, I knew as soon as I saw the announcement from Disney Parks and MomSelect that I had to join in the fun again this year.

I received free products in order to host a Disney Side @ Home Celebration. As you’ll note below, all opinions expressed in this article are my own. Our box arrived not long after I received the acceptance letter. Here’s a peek at what was inside:
Our kit contained Disney-themed paper goods (plates, napkins, cups, a vinyl table cloth, and a cupcake stand), Minnie & Daisy zip-top storage bags and goody boxes, a Mickey-shaped cake pan with tie-dye cake mix and sprinkles, crayons, stickers, pencils, and assorted party games and trivia cards. It also contained gifts for the moms, such as HP photo paper, All laundry detergent, and Snuggle fabric softener, as well as a few other items. As much as I appreciated everything, I had to say the supplies were less-than-inspiring and really challenged my creativity to come up with a party theme…but we did it, of course!
The party was originally scheduled for Valentine’s Day, and we decided on a “Disney Besties & Buds” theme, focusing on Disney character best friends. (Think Buzz & Woody, Mater & Lightning McQueen, etc.) I had several activities planned, like Cars‘ “Mater & McQueen’s 3-legged race,” UP‘s “Carl & Russell’s balloon-on-a-spoon relay,” and Minnie & Daisy’s nail salon for the girls. We had to reschedule, though, so we dropped that and went with a simplified Mickey Mouse theme, but we were still able to incorporate some of the games.
We pinned the smile on Mickey:
We relayed balloons-on-a-spoon. The boys won in a very close race.
And we tossed a combination skeeball/cornhole challenge. This was a big hit! Just look at the concentration on their faces!
The kids also had a rousing game of hide-and-seek the hidden Mickey before sitting down to enjoy cake and cupcakes and to play some Disney Bingo. The girls still got to do their nails too before everyone headed home, and we were able to capture all these beautiful smiles in our Mickey-Minnie #DisneySide photo booth!
Everyone–moms included–had a magical time showing our Disney Side, and we can’t wait to do it again real soon!
Add some Disney magic to your day & show off your #DisneySide!
