Did you know today’s Tiggerific Tuesday Disney Trivia about the Liberty Belle Riverboat at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom?
The Liberty Belle Riverboat, that docks in Liberty Square and encircles Tom Sawyer Island, was originally named the Joe Fowler Riverboat, in tribute to the man who helped create Disneyland. The boat, however, was not quite ready for Walt Disney World’s opening day, but did set sail one day later, on October 2, 1971. At the time, live entertainment could often be found on the ship’s deck , because there were not that many sights for guests to see on the Rivers of America. The name of the attraction was changed during a 1996 refurbishment to tie the boat in with the surrounding Liberty Square.
