Did you know today’s Tiggerific Tuesday #DisneyTrivia about Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain?
Walt Disney first approached designer John Hench in 1964 with an idea for a new Disneyland attraction that would be the focal point of a 1967 renovation of the Park’s Tomorrowland. It was to be an inspired offshoot of the Matterhorn Bobsleds. The concept was tossed around a number of years and was called Space Mountain for the first time in 1966. After Walt’s passing later that year, the project was set aside as plans progressed on his Florida Project. Space Mountain finally became a reality in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park in 1975. A smaller version was later installed at Disneyland Park in 1977, and similar versions of it have been replicated at Disney Parks around the world.
