Welcome to those of you joining me from DELIGHTFULLY DISNEY and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.
Welcome aboard the Magical Blogorail Yellow line! This month we’re sharing with you our most sentimental Disney souvenirs. If you’re like me, you probably have a sweet story behind many of your Disney park purchases. It was actually fun for me to look around the house and reminisce about special memories as I pondered which one memento made the most sentimental impact.
Two years ago, my family went through a very trying time. We had hoped to visit Walt Disney World that September, but the way the first half of 2011 went, it looked like that trip might not happen. But as the time drew closer, and as we chatted with friends whom we’d miss seeing at our annual Ultimate Field Trip, we decided at the last minute—seriously, we booked 10 days before we arrived—that not only did we want to go, but we needed to go!
I can attest to the therapeutic power of Walt Disney World magic! We, of course, missed out on good discounts by booking so late, but the extra cost was so worth the sacrifice. That trip marked the beginning of our family’s healing.
During that trip, my husband and I purchased Mickey Mouse watches for each other as an early 18th wedding anniversary gift. They don’t match exactly, but they are similar. Both are silver-toned Skagen of Denmark timepieces, made specifically for Disney. Mine has a Mickey profile on the face, and his has a three-circle Mickey formed by the inset gauges. They hold a lot of sentimental value to us both, because they mark a time in our lives we won’t soon forget, a time that brought many challenges but also brought great growth in our relationship and our family.
September 25, 2013, will mark our 20th anniversary, and we are celebrating while at Disney World with a late date for two at the Grand Floridian’s Narcoossee’s, backlit by moonlight and Wishes!
Mark your special time—a birthday, an anniversary, a memorable Disney trip—by building your own unique clock. Follow the instructions provided by Emily Fazio at Blog.DIYNetwork.com to create the basic setup, and make it your own by adding any number of decorations and adornments!
