The crystal chandelier at Epcot Germany Pavilion’s Kunstarbeit in Kristall is the subject of this week’s Tiggerific Tuesday Disney Trivia.
What do I often tell you? Look up! The Disney Parks are chock full of beautiful details. Imagineers and their design teams wanted to be sure every Guest’s visit to whatever portion of the park they’re in is as authentic to that region, that country, that culture, or that concept as possible. And they didn’t miss the details in ceiling or fixtures!
This stunning crystal chandelier hangs in the Kunstarbeit in Kristall shop at Epcot’s Germany Pavilion, just to the left of one of my favorite Walt Disney World restaurants, Biergarten. The store is run by Arribas Brothers and offers a beautiful assortment of hand-blow crystal figurines, intricate tiaras, and Swarovski crystal-encrusted items, like a Cinderella Castle replica covered in 28,255 stones that sells for a mere $37,500.
The chandelier offers some trivial trivia! Urban legend tells us this light fixture is not original to the store. The previous one was purchased by the late pop star Michael Jackson to be installed at his Neverland Ranch. Is this truth or fiction? We cannot be certain, but it adds to the magical storytelling that is Walt Disney World Resort.
