Welcome to those of you joining me from DELIGHTFULLY DISNEY and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the Final stop on our Magical Blogorail.
Thanks for joining us this month! We hope you’ve enjoyed your trip on the Magical Blogorail Yellow line!
For our family, every Disney trip is “fantasmic,” but when Cast Members bump things up that Disney notch, it makes the memories even more magical. This month, my kids reminisced with me about three very special times we’ve had at Walt Disney World.
The first tale I’ll tell you may have read before. (It’s included in MAGICAL MOUSE SCHOOLHOUSE: Learn While You Play at Walt Disney World Resort – page 25.) On our second trip the World in 2008, my youngest was a month shy of turning 3. He’d been fine, but that morning, as soon as we were seated at Cinderella’s Royal Table, he had a protein spill! Cast Members were in and out and had that cleaned up before anyone around us noticed any commotion! But, that wasn’t the magical part. (Thank goodness, right?!) No, my mom and I took Adam to the restroom to clean him up and decided we’d just go back to the resort to clean him up. Well, right at that moment, the restaurant manager walked in with brand new clothes for my son! She had sent someone down to the Emporium and brought us an adorable Character 2008 shirt with matching shorts in just the right size—at no charge to us! It certainly relieved us of the cleanup worry and kept us from missing an otherwise delightful breakfast. My son was perfectly fine the rest of the trip, and now we joke about the best way to get free Disney stuff.
The second story I hinted to recently when I wrote about Disney’s Hollywood Studios Citizens of Hollywood. This is not nearly as long a tale, but it was just as great, and this time the fun was for my older son. We always enjoy stopping to watch the Citizens of Hollywood (or Streetmosphere, if you prefer). One time a few years ago, my teen son was wearing black calf-high socks with white Vans. Well, that happened to be very fashionable for his age, but Studios Mogul Shelby Mayer did NOT agree. He gave my son $1,000,000 to go buy new socks! Too bad it wasn’t legal tender. My son did carry it in his wallet for years, though…where it gradually deteriorated.
And finally, our home resort at Walt Disney World is Port Orleans Riverside. The first time we stayed there, my kids and I were waiting in the lobby while Disney Dad checked us in. We must have looked anxious for some Disney magic, because suddenly small, wooden POR coins started rolling over our feet! At first, we couldn’t tell where they were coming from, because they’d roll all sorts of directions. My kids were thrilled and started picking up every one they could find. We finally noticed a Cast Member by the door was rolling them our way with the biggest grin on his face! He knew he was starting our trip off right, and we’ll always remember that day!
I know I’ve used this Takeaway a few times, but I really don’t think it can be suggested too much. Today, thank a Cast Member! If you’ve ever had a magical moment with a Disney Cast Member, let him or her know. Thank them onsite, snap a photo with them, and when you return home, send them a print along with a handmade card. Have your kid color pictures of Disney Characters or draw something from the heart. Glitterize it, sticker it up, fancify it however your heart (or your kids’ hearts) desire. Then, find the appropriate address below, and mail your note to that special CM. It’s a great way to return the magic they gave to you.
