Did YOU know today’s Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia about Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

On this date, Earth Day, April 22, 1998, Walt Disney World Resort opened the gates to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park! It was always Walt Disney’s intention to have live animals in a Disney park. In fact, his original plans for Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise included live animals. However, the attraction’s logistics prevented it, and Walt and his Imagineers determined live animals would not provide the consistent show they desired, so Audio-Animatronic creatures were installed instead. I love that they brought in live animals to make the movies and ride animals that much more realistic. He’s a pretty brave man to be standing there with two tigers. :) Thanks for sharing and hosting the trivia!

It would of been cool with live animals..but on the other hand the animatronics always show their faces. :)

    • http://www.magicalmouseschoolhouse.com/ Jodi / MagicalMouseSchoolhouse

That’s true! And they’re right up close. It would be a totally different experience with live animals.

I wish I would have had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Walt Disney! The man was a genius and I’d love to have had the opportunity to get inside his head for just awhile, to learn from and understand what his thoughts and ideas came from!

Oh, me too! Just to sit at his feet and listen – I’d be fascinated!
