Welcome to those of you joining me from DELIGHTFULLY DISNEY and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Not too long ago, Magical Blogorail Yellow discussed what we’d be if we could be a Cast Member for a day. At the time, I said I’d be a Jungle Cruise skipper, but after thinking about it some more, I’ve decided that when I grow up, I really wanna be a…

Costumed character at Walt Disney World! Not just anyone, though, I want to be Cinderella’s fairy godmother. My son said I’d be good at that “because you’re old!” Uh-hum. Really, though, the fairy godmother is timeless and ageless! And she can do spells, so she could make herself look younger if she really wanted to. Now wouldn’t that be great?

No, the real reason I’d like to be Cinderella’s fairy godmother is because to me, she holds all the magic. Who else can poof away the desperate despair of a downtrodden maiden and elevate her to rightful heights beyond mortal comprehension? The fairy godmother rights life’s wrongs. With a single wave of her wand she sends sorrow and injustice packing and sets in their place beauty and happily-ever-after. Of course, Cinderella possesses in herself the confidence to carry that out, but the fairy godmother sets it all in motion.

At Walt Disney World, Cinderella’s fairy godmother bibbidi-bobbidi-boos shy little princesses and blinks them into a magical world—a World of Disney—where dreams come true and good always wins. What a wonderful job! Yes, this is what I wanna be when I grow up!

    Today’s Takeaway:
Have a little fun and learn some cool magic tricks. They’re not quite as fanciful as what the fairy godmother can do, but they’re sure to bring smiles to your friends’ faces.

These simple tricks and more are explained at About.com Magic & Illusion:
#1 The Magnetic Pencil – Grab your wrist with your hand and a pencil appears to stick to your hand. When you let go, the pencil drops. At the end, your spectators can examine the pencil.
#2 The Rubber Pencil – Wave a normal pencil and it appears to bend, just as if it were made of rubber.
#3 Cold as Ice – You pour some water into a cup. You utter some secret words and when you turn over the cup, all that comes out is a chunk of ice. This one is super easy with the secret and a little setup.
