a bug’s land

Not only can Guests walk into the silver screen, but at Disney California Adventure Park, they can also shrink to the size of a bug! Experience Disney magic from a whole new perspective at a bug’s land, inspired by Disney·Pixar’s a bug’s life.

Enter the world of insects, where blades of grass and leaves of clover tower high overhead, and you will find some playful adventures down amid the weeds. Here, refuse is recycled into flying fun, an umbrella creates a circus tent, and fireflies light the streets aglow.

Go underground to the bug’s life theater for the 3D experience It’s Tough to Be a Bug! Find out what the buzz is all about, then head to Flik’s Fun Fair for big fun aboard Flik’s Flyers, or wind through one snack after another on Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train. You will stay as busy as a bee, because there’s lots to do and see in this land “where bugs live large.”

Today’s Takeaway:
Get out your magnifying glass and observe insects up close in their natural environment. A safe way to do this is to purchase an ant farm kit from your local teaching supply or hobby store. Take daily photographs and keep a log of your observations, noting the creatures’ habits and tendencies.

If you are an avid gardener, take the class outside and see what kinds of bugs live in your landscape. Can you identify them? Are they beneficial to your garden, or are they harmful pests? Take a walk around the neighborhood or visit a nearby park and see what critters you can find in nature, being cautious, of course, not to get stung or bitten. Photograph the ones you see and research them online when you return home.
