40 Days to 40 Years: The Year 2006
Monday, September 26, 2011
Magical Mouse Schoolhouse is participating in the 40 Days to 40 Years celebration hosted by Donna at :DISTherapy. Anticipation is building as Walt Disney World's 40th birthday approaches. It's getting close! Join me as I look back on 2006. Below is just a snippet. I hope you'll click through to read the rest of our story and wish Walt Disney World the Most Magical Birthday on Earth!
The year 2006 was a big one for my family. We took our first trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth that September. And magical, indeed it was!
We loaded up our brand new minivan with pretty much everything in our house, along with diapers and wipes and snacks and drinks and all sorts of unnecessaries from Sam’s (I am a charter member of Overpackers Anonymous!) and hit the road. Walt Disney World or Bust!

My youngest remembers none of that first trip, of course. I, however, have sweet snapshots of my littlest prince sleeping on my shoulder, and I can still hear his silly giggles at all the sights and sounds.

But what made that trip extra magical for me was my almost 3-year-old’s reaction to Magic Kingdom...She thought Cinderella was real and the Castle was her home...Her delight with everything we did on that first magical journey is etched in my memory forever!

Today's Takeaway:
First, take a moment to visit :DISTherapy and read our 2006 post in its entirety.
Second, wish Walt Disney World Resort a Happy 40th Birthday! Watch this tutorial by Disney Animator Mike Surrey and learn how to draw a picture of Mickey Mouse. Using cardstock or a small piece of poster board, create a birthday card. Decorate it with markers, crayons, stickers and other crafts and mail your finished picture to Walt Disney World Resort at one of the Park addresses found at this website.
